THREAD STRIKE

2021

THREAD STRIKE is a feminist intervention in the urban space that we carried out at the brick textile factory, built in the 1910s and now a concert and avant-garde art center called Fabra i Coats. This performance was developed in a creative laboratory process with women and gender dissidents, within the framework of the XII Mutis Festival @festivalmutis April 2021 in Barcelona.

The piece belongs to the third part of our trilogy ‘Neither God Nor Law Nor Master’ which we began developing with women and gender dissidents on March 8, 2020, and corresponds to the critique and universe surrounding the master-boss.

“We pursue the idea of unraveling the threads of industry because our hearts are rusting. Today is 2021, in a “democracy,” and many people live in abject poverty. But this is not the life we want; we want a life where everyone supports each other and can live in harmony with the environment. Factories and their cities destroy ecosystems: we drink poison, we eat plastic, our bodies become matter in a timeless way.

Unraveling industry… We curse capitalism. We will pull the strings to meet in a work of art, in a street, in a factory, in a contemporary art center that hides within its walls the silence of progress’s disaster.
